Long Time Coming

Long Time Coming
By Vanessa Miller
Fortunately this was a free book that I downloaded from Bookbub.com.  However, if I would have realized it was a very Christian oriented book, I most likely would have passed on purchasing Long Time Coming.  I respect the right for all those that want to read Christian books, but they are definitely not my thing.  I would rather see an author or publisher be a little more upfront in the book description on Amazon that this is a Christian book.  If it was stated, than I missed that fact before my purchase.

With all of this said, it was a good book.  It had a very good plot line.  Actually there were two plot lines running at the same time. with one plot being more dominant than the other.  It was intriguing and kept me wondering exactly what was going to happen.  I had my suspicions early on, but the book went a little different than what I thought it would.

It is an inspiring read about some very difficult struggles the main character had to face in her life.  The decisions were not easy and depended upon being patient with others to make decisions that impacted her life.

Sometimes we live in a vacuum, thinking that what we do, really is not dependent upon events in some other person's life in the world.  Yet, time and time again if we open our eyes, we see just how much we impact each other.  Of course, in many ways we either do this in a negative way or a positive one.  It all depends upon how much we open our eyes and how aware we are.  The book, Long Time Coming really depicted this scenario in a major way.

When I was reading through this book, especially at the end of it, I could not help but think of the author Dr. John Lerma.  He wrote some books on people in a hospice who were transitioning to death and his observations are completely accurate in my opinion.  If you want to check his book out, try taking a look at "Learning From The Light" or "Into The Light".

I saw many similarities to what I believe happens at the end of life.  However, the author of this particular book felt the need to really push her own religious beliefs and opinions into the writing.  If you are fine with this, than the book, Long Time Coming is the right book for you.  If religious beliefs are not something that you wish to read about, than you most likely will not enjoy this book.  The plot line is good, but the religious beliefs were a little too much. I will say though that the author has a gift in how she writes.
